2019 Civil Rights Pilgrimage

We are proud Fatima represented Rep. Adam Smith and the 9th Congressional District on the Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage with over 40 members of Congress in Selma, Alabama. Here the delegation is crossing the historic Edmund Pettus Bridget, site of Bloody Sunday 1965, which was followed soon after by the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1965.

The Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage exposes Members of Congress to epochs shaping our nation’s polity, where luminaries, historians and first-hand testimonies offer an environment for calling forth of courage, conscience and compassion. The pilgrimage uplifts reflections on community, respect, personal commitment and nonviolence.

Thank you to Congressman Adam Smith and the Institute for Community Leadership for this opportunity.
