Educators face a significant challenge with social media and personal digital device (over)use. According to Dr. Megan Moreno (2015), 72% of youth are “constantly connected”. Approx 41% of older adolescents’ social media profiles display reference to substance use, 24% display references to sex, and 14% display references to violence. ICL students, teachers, and parents study the effect of personal digital devices on social skills, cognitive development, and academic achievement.
