Congresswoman Deb Haaland

President-Elect Joe Biden has announced the historic selection of Congresswoman Deb Haaland as Secretary of the Interior.
Haaland will bring generations of First Nations experience, ethics and best practices for protecting and preserving the environment for the benefit of all Americans.
Congresswoman Haaland made history in 2018 as one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress. She is a 35th generation New Mexican and member of the Pueblo of Laguna.
As part of a delegation with Congresswoman Barbara Lee, our youth leaders and staff were honored to meet Congresswoman Haaland during the 2019 Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage led by Congressman John Lewis.
