Days of Gratitude

During our annual “Days of Gratitude”–held during the Thanksgiving weekend–youth leaders, staff and guests explored the deep connections of gratitude, self transformation and the creation of what Dr. King calls “the beloved community.”
We study the role of tribal sovereignty in strengthening democracy, as well as understanding the truth and myths about the story of Thanksgiving.
We are grateful to Nate Tyler of the Makah Tribe in Neah Bay, WA, for joining us online. Nate explained the role and relevance of sovereignty and self-government, as well as the role of culture and history to our delegation.
This year we convened in person, practicing physical distancing, wearing masks and meeting outdoors, with a substantial cohort of youth, staff and guests joining us online.
