Dr. Calvin Watts, Superintendent of the Kent School District joins ICL students and staff for an online leadership seminar

Learning about Leadership with Vision, Integrity, Strategy and Accountability

When Dr. Calvin Watts, Superintendent of the Kent School District, left home for college, his parents counselled him, “V.I.S.A.–Don’t leave home without it.” They were not talking about the credit card, but a set of values he continues to use to guide his life and leadership and to advise others:

Vision
Integrity
Strategy
Accountability

Dr. Watts spent time with our youth and staff online to dialog about the qualities of leadership in education, in business and in civic life.

Dr. Watts is nationally respected for his proven leadership record, strategic vision, passion for educating students, communication skills, human resource experience, strong work ethic, team- and consensus-building expertise, and his many years of working with diverse populations. He has served as a leader in curriculum and instruction, and has overseen innovative programs including special education, psychological services, and dual language immersion.

ICL continues to turn on a dime, increasing our online classes and leadership and civic engagement sessions during the stay-at-home order. We are bringing experts from around the world with feet-on-the-ground experience in organizing, civic engagement and public service together with our youth and staff.

This is an excellent time to study the relevance and importance of transforming ourselves to make change in the world. Kent School District#KSDEquity #KSDexcellence #KSDcommunity @calvinjeromewatts
