We are grateful to Glenn Jenkins and Michael Peña of the Washington Education Association Board of Directors for joining our youth leaders and staff for an online leadership seminar. We discussed the importance of collaboration, communication and community in developing and practicing leadership.
Glenn Jenkins currently serves on the WEA’s Board of Directors and is Vice Chair of the WEA’s Black Caucus. He has been an educator in the Auburn School District for nine years and serves as Board Director for the Engaging Educators of Color Committee.
Michael Peña currently serves on the WEA’s Board of Directors and has served as an educator in the Mukilteo School District for eleven years. Mr. Peña serves as an Administrator for AntiracistEducationNow! which is focused on ending white supremacy and systemic racism in all areas of education. He served as the Education Committee Chair for the Snohomish County chapter of the NAACP for one year.
