Student Writings: Everything of Nothing – Katy Trieu

I want the everything of nothing

The filled hourglass with every agreement inside

The apologies after the mother’s son died

The squeal of delight after the baby cries

I want the everything of nothing

The rumble and roar after genocide

The migrant worker amidst the pesticide

The countless treaties signed, you lie, you lie

The system will kill, do not abide

I want the everything of nothing

For there is no peace of mind
