Labor unions are at the forefront of protecting democracy. We are grateful to Joshua Anijar, Executive Director of the Contra Costa Central Labor Council, and Tim Jefferies, Vice President of Boilermakers Union Local 549 ,for joining our youth leaders and staff for a refreshingly live leadership seminar.
Joshua and Tim participated in a lively dialog about the history and importance of labor unions in securing and protecting rights for workers, their families and communities.
We’re on the road with week one of our six-week “To Us, You Matter Summer Civic Engagement Tour” visiting 40 localities in the Bay Area and Washington State, meeting with elected officials, community and union leaders and the public studying what it means to be part of Dr. King’s “World House.”
